The Proud Of Bisaya

This is my niece, Nur Nanie Amilia and she is 12years old. She is one of the member of Orchestra Anak Jati Bisaya which performed at the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) 2008.

This group is made of young teenagers from the Bisaya community – one of the ethnic groups of northern Sarawak. They play 20 gongs of various sizes and the dumbak (wooden drum). Their music is slow and soulful.

Having performed in public for less than five years, the youngsters will use RWMF to hone their skills.
